The light of the moon shining in the sky slipped through the windows of number 4 privet drive. To any one who happened to look in to the smallest room in the house, the room appeared empty, but on closer inspection the figure of a tall skinny boy could be seen curled up on the bed. Harry James Potter was curled up on his bed sobbing silently into his pillow. His emerald green eyes were filled with grief, pain and sorrow, as he stared at the wall unblinking.
It had been two weeks since that night at the Ministry and Harry’s sleep was plagued with images of the events which had once again thrown his world into turmoil. Harry and a group of his friends had rushed to Ministry towards the department of mysteries to rescue Sirius Black, Harry’s godfather. When they arrived they realised it was a trap, they battled with the dark lords followers and things seemed to be looking up when the Order Of The Phoenix turned up to help, but Harry’s world collapsed in the blink of an eye. Sirius was duelling a Death Eater who happened to be his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange, when a curse hit him in the chest and he fell through the veil dead.
Ever since that night Harry had been overcome with guilt and grief, his friends had done their best to console him but it was no use, Harry had shut himself away and nothing they said or did could get him to open up to them.
Two days after the events at the Ministry the Hogwarts express had pulled out of the station and Harry was sent back to live with the Dursleys at Number 4 Privet Drive. The Dursleys had always been horrible to Harry treating him like a slave and forcing him to live in horrible conditions. When the Hogwarts Express had pulled up to the station The Order Of The Phoenix had tried to reason with them and make sure Harry was treated properly, but if anything it had made things worse. Harry’s Uncle Vernon didn’t take to kindly to being told what to do and seemed more determined to take his anger out on Harry.
Harry hadn’t eaten properly for 2 weeks now and it was starting to show, he’d lost a lot of weight and was looking skinnier than ever, he new Mrs Weasley wouldn’t be happy, but at the moment he didn’t care, he wasn’t hungry and just want to be alone to mourn the death of his godfather.
He knew his friends were worried about him, there was a stack of letters on his unit which he couldn’t bring himself to respond to. The Order had demanded he write to them every three days so they knew he was ok, but Harry was annoyed at the lack of information they were giving him and ended up sending the same letter over and over.

“I’m fine don’t worry about me. When am I getting out of here?”
Harry

No one would tell him when he would be allowed to leave and he was getting very frustrated, he knew they weren’t happy with his short response but again he didn’t care about that. Another thing that was eating away at Harry was the prophecy;

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...."

This scared Harry more than anything “and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives” how could he, a 15 year old boy defeat the most powerful dark lord the world has ever know? The idea that he had to kill or be killed frightened him no end. He hadn’t told his friends, he knew Ron and Hermione deserved to know, but he couldn’t bring himself to see their reactions. He couldn’t bare to see the looks of shock and pity on their faces, but most of all he was scared they would leave him when they realised how dangerous it was to be around him.

Sometime in the night he must have drifted off to sleep as the memories of Voldemorts return and Cedric and Sirius’s deaths came back to him. The door of his room flung open and the next thing he knew his uncle had grabbed him by the collar and pushed him up against the wall.

“What is the meaning of this boy?” his uncle demanded
“Pardon?” Harry asked groggily
“I have work in a few ours and I cannot sleep because all I can hear is you screaming, what is the matter with you? Every night for the last 2 weeks this has happened and I’ve had enough.” Vernon shouted
“I’m Sorry….” Harry’s response was cut off as his uncle’s fist caught him on the nose he slumped to the floor and blood flowed freely down his face.
His uncle turned and stomped out of the room slamming the door behind him. Harry was used to this treatment now but he couldn’t stop the tears rolling down his face.

As the blood trickled down his face he decided he had had enough, he was leaving whether the order liked it or not. He was fed up of waiting for them to tell him when he could leave and he was fed up of being kept in the dark, he was the only one who could defeat Voldemort and it was time for him to take matters into his own hands, but where could he go? There was no way he could go to Grimmauld Place, besides the Order were using that as headquarters as far as he knew. He would have loved to have gone to the Burrow but that was out of the question, the moment he got there Dumbledore would be informed and he would be whisked back here to Privet Drive, he needed a lace no one would think to look.

After a few minutes of thinking it hit him, he would go and stay at the shrieking shack, no one would think to look there and he was sure he could get dobby or another Hogwarts house elf to brig him food and help him get comfortable.
