Disclaimer: I do not own the characters, only the plot. If I were the one to have created the plot AND the characters, this story would be a movie by now.

Chapter One: The Fight

16 year old James Potter sat on his bed, finishing his Muggle Studies homework. It wasn't boring, but it wasn't very interesting, either.

Just as he was finishing the conclusion of his essay, his best friend and fellow Marauder, Sirius Black walked in.

"Hey, Prongs!" he greeted happily.

"Hey." James replied.

"Best day ever," Sirius sighed, flopping down in his bed which was next to James'. "250 if I'm counting correctly."

"Which you're probably not." Remus Lupin said, also walking into the room, carrying three textbooks. He sat down on his bed and started reading.

"You're not nice! You're probably right. BUT YOU"RE STILL NOT NICE!" Sirius said.

Remus just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Why do you do it anyways? You're just making every girl feel bad, even if you're making yourself happy."

"Because I'm awesome. Even if I break one girl's heart, I'm making more girls excited because they know I'm free. ANd they think they might be next. Plus, 250 is a BIG accomplishment. Prongs respects my accomplishment, don't you Prongs?"

James didn't answer. He just stared at his textbook (somewhat hiding behind it).

"Prongs?" Sirius repeated, this time looking at friend, waiting for an answer.

This time, James had no choice. "I... uh... well... umm..."

Remus got up and left the room, claiming he had Prefect duties to attend to. He didn't want to listen to the conversation, and if worst came to worst, be dragged into it, forced to choose sides between his best friends.

"What do you mean 'I, uh, well, umm'? You do it too!" Sirius yelled.

"Correction, I used to do it." James replied calmly.

"Again, WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'YOU USED TO'?"

"Well I actually like a girl. You just date date girls for fun. One day, just like I did, you'll find a girl you actually like, and realize what you're doing is wrong." James said.

"That'll never happen." Sirius muttered, and left the room, going to the Great Hall for dinner.
