Could he ever know? Know of my love for Severus? Could he ever know? That my child is not his. Could he ever know? That I don't belong to him. Could he ever know? That I'm in love with someone else. Could he ever know? That I just can't love him no more. I, Lily Potter, is no longer James Potter's any more. Lily finished composing her poem and sighed. "I think that this poem proves that I can't pursue a career in poems", she joked but there was no one to hear her--as usual. James was out doing something that only God knows what and Harry was sleeping in his crib upstairs. Lily got up, unable to bear the silence any longer, and climbed the stairs, panting and wheezing when she got up to the second floor. Harry's room was the one on the right, she reminded herself silently and went into the room. She smiled at Harry who was on his stomach and sucking his thumb. She stroked his back, thinking of...him. The pale, pallid face...the dark, greasy curtain of hair...the gentle way he smiled at her.... She practically remembered everything. Until... ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "What?" The redheaded girl whipped around, glaring at the pale man before her. "Really, Lily, I'm sorry-" Yet again, he tried to explain it to her but she cut him off. "Sorry for what?" she almost screamed at him, her eyes were flashing. "Sorry for calling me a mudblood, Sev?" "Yes", he said desperately. "But that's just not enough! I've seen the people you hang out with! Even my friends wonder why I even look at you!" She pushed him backwards. "Lily-" He stepped foward but she shoved him away again. "Don't ever say my name again!" she screamed. "Really, I'm sorry", he said even more desparate than before. "Sorry?" she shrieked hysterically at him. "Sorry? You really think you can fit that 'You're sorry' into words? 'Cause it'll never happen!" "Evans! I have enough of you! What could I do in front of all those people? You-you-MUDBLOOD!" The word had slipped out of him in temper and hurriedly he tried to cover up his mistake. Too late. She burst into tears and fled. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily let a tear fall and turned back to Harry. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily clutched James' arm and smiled at him. He smiled back. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Regret. All Lily felt was regret. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The couple passed Severus Snape in the hall. Lily didn't notice Severus' tear fall in her hand but James did. He whipped out his wand. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ She could've stopped him. Too late. As always. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The crowd was cheering and jeering. James seemed to be enjoying the attention. Lily cheered along with the crowd. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Severus glared in hate at Lily and James, as he spat out soapsuds. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily's heart broke. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Why're you sticking up for him?" Severus asked a defiant and angry Lily. "What does it matter to you?" She now hated the man from his patched up robes and everything about him...Everything. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily let another tear fall. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "EVERYTHING!" He shouted the last word at her with as much force as he could muster and swept away. Not noticing a tear fall...fall in his hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily closed her eyes. "You okay?" She wiped her tears, plastered on a fake smile and turned to the guy she know that she could never love. "I'm all right." I'm forced to fake a smile everyday, and the seconds are hard to pass when I know that I would never ever get the man I wish to have. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The black haired man that look so much like his father stared at the two long-forgotten poems. A tear fell. His mother had never loved his father. "Harry?" "Yeah?" "You know that your mum did love James." "How? When she loves Snape?" Ginny placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. "'Cause I know that she really really does. And that she couldn't live without him." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi!
