The Hosts
              


The house buzzed with excitement
They were to arrive in an hour
Children dressed in their colorful and new clothes
The two parents dressed respectfully
After many days the home of the family 
Looked bright and clean
They were to arrive in an hour

The hour came and they arrived
Now you have the right to know who arrived
The visitors of course!

They were greeted warmly at the door
They were welcomed inside the house with respect
There were smiles all around
After the one hour wait
The visitors had finally arrived

They stayed at the house for one night and two days
The house was filled with happiness
The children played and the adults talked
The television like always, was on
Lunches and dinners were cooked perfectly
The food was delicious
Happiness and harmony reigned in the house

But when the time came to go
For the visitors of the house
Deep inside the hearts of the hosts
Came a sudden sadness
They kept it inside
They wanted to send their visitors away happily

Soon the visitors had sat on their cars and gone away happily
In the house, a stony silence erupted
There was no sound
Except perhaps the echoes of the happiness of the previous two days
The house looked lonely
The hosts, were no longer the hosts
The visitors had gone away
