Chapter one: It’s always something!
BOOM… That’s what Harry Potter woke up to his first morning back to the Burrow.
‘It must have come from Fred and George’s room.’ Harry thought. Then he remembered that the twins didn’t live at home anymore.
He started to panic, that is until he realized that the explosion had come from Ginny’s room.
Now some people might think that any explosions at all would have been dangerous, but those were normal people, of which there weren’t any at the Burrow. That was because the Burrow was a wizarding household that belonged to the Weasleys.
Ginny happened to be the youngest of the seven Weasley children. The oldest was Bill who worked as a curse breaker in Egypt for Gringotts the wizard bank, next was Charlie who worked with dragons in Romania, Percy who work as Junior Secretary to the Minister at the Ministry of Magic, then Fred and George, the twins who ran a joke shop by the name of Weasley Wizarding Wheeze’s in Diagon Ally, then Ron, one of Harry’s two best friends, And then Ginny…
“Oh, Ginny!”
Harry knew he was falling in love with Ginny who, like all of the Weasleys, had red hair.
‘Beautiful red hair and amazing brown eyes,’ he thought.
Then he shook himself. ‘What am I THINKING? This is GINNY I’m thinking about! Besides Ron would kill me if he knew I was even THINKING about her!’ And he was right; Ron was very protective of his little sister, as were the others. Yet Harry couldn’t help but wonder what she would say if he asked her out.
Meanwhile Ginny was thinking of Harry.
‘Oh, Harry.’ She sighed. ‘When are you going to ask me out? I know you want to; I can see it in your eyes. Oh, if only my brothers weren’t such prats! THEN maybe he’d have asked me out by now!’
The explosions that had been coming from her room were potions experiments that she was working on. She was quite the interesting sight to see, her experiment had, quite literally, blown up in her face and at that precise moment she was covered from head to toe in soot.
Just then Hermione Granger burst into the room in a panic.
“What happened, Ginny?” Hermione asked.
“Nothing, just an exploding potions experiment. That is all.” Ginny replied, innocently.
“AN EXPLODING POTIONS EXPERIMENT?!” Hermione exclaimed. “And WHAT, May I ask, possessed you to play around with potion ingredients?”
“Absolutely nothing. Now if you don’t mind, I would like to get cleaned up and dressed.” Ginny calmly replied.
Hermione just stared at the fifteen year old. She was amazed at how calm Ginny was through out the whole conversation; she had never seen her like this, and she wasn’t sure she liked it.
“What? Do I have soot up my nose or something?” she asked.
“No it’s just…something’s changed you, but I don’t know what it is. Yet.”
“Oh, is that what I am now? Your new project? Well no thanks.” Ginny said crossly.
“No of course not Ginny, what I meant is you’re different somehow.” The older girl said somewhat uncertainly.
“You’re right…as usual.” Ginny sighed and closed her eyes.
All of a sudden someone knocked on the door. “Ginny are you alright?” Harry’s voice could be heard through the door.
“Great now HARRY’S worried about me!” Ginny thought to herself, then aloud, “Yes I’m fine Harry, sorry if I woke you.”
“Quite alright Ginny, I was about to wake up anyway.”
Even though the door was closed she could tell he was blushing.
“Of course she’s alright, you idiot!” He thought to himself, angrily.
“See you at breakfast Ginny.” And with that he ran down the stairs.
Ginny and Hermione looked at each other and sighed.
“It’s always something with him, isn’t it?” Ginny asked.
“Got that right.” Hermione replied.
And with that they followed Harry down stairs.
~***~
Molly Weasley bustled about the kitchen muttering to her self. “Don’t know what she thinks she’s doing…going to kill herself one of these days.”
“Mrs. Weasley, are you okay?” Harry asked.
“Yes Harry I’m fine, why do you ask?”
“No reason, you were just talking to your self so I thought I’d ask. Is this about Ginny?” Harry asked curiously.
Molly sighed. “He can be so perceptive sometimes, TO perceptive.” She thought.
“I’m just worried about her; there have been too many explosions coming from her room these days.”
Just then Ginny and Hermione came thundering down the stairs.
“Ginny, where’s your brother?”
“I’m not sure Mum.” Ginny replied.
“Harry, have you seen him?” Mrs. Weasley asked worriedly.
“No Mrs. Weasley, I’m afraid I haven’t.”
“Looking for me?” The brother in question came through the garden door.
“Ronald Weasley, what on earth were you doing out there?”
“Practicing.” Ron said, as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Why were you practicing so early?” Harry asked.
“I just wanted to get a good run in before school started, That’s all.” Ron replied, his ears going their trademark red.
“Well, what ever the reason I don’t want you practicing alone and with out telling someone first.” Molly replied.
“He could’ve hurt himself! Honestly, doesn’t he ever THINK?” She thought to herself, shaking her head as she continued to make breakfast.
Harry and Ron sat on one side of the table while Ginny and Hermione sat on the other, Ginny across from Harry and Hermione across from Ron.
“Ron would you please eat at a normal pace?” Hermione said testily.
“This is the pace I eat at Hermione. Sorry if that displeases you!” Ron retorted.
Hermione just scowled and went back to eating her breakfast.
Harry and Ginny both rolled their eyes.
“What?” Ron and Hermione asked at the same time, seeing Harry and Ginny’s identical expressions.
“You two that’s what!” Harry and Ginny said at the same time.
Ron and Hermione raised their eyebrows and looked questioningly at them.
“You keep fighting with each other when you should be laughing with each other!” Ginny said.
“I agree with Ginny and further more I think you two have a thing for each other, which I think you’ve had for quite sometime!” Harry said, looking very cross indeed.
Ron and Hermione stared at them then looked at each other.
“Um…Hermione, can we talk for a moment please?” Ron said, his ears going red once again.
“Sure Ron. Where do you want to talk?” Hermione asked, a blush creeping into her cheeks.
“How ‘bout the garden?” Ron said, his ears getting redder and redder by the second.
“That would be great.” Hermione replied, still blushing.
“Great.”
And with that they left.
Harry and Ginny looked at each other.
“It’s about time those two figured out their feelings toward each other!” Ginny said, smirking all the while.
“I wonder if she feels the same way I do…” Harry thought, staring at her.
“What? Did I not get all the soot off of me?” Ginny asked, looking at him curiously.
“No! You look fine. Um, Ginny?” Harry asked, looking nervous.
“Yes Harry?”
“Iwaswonderingifyouwouldlikegooutwithmesometime?” Harry said really fast without breathing, hoping she wouldn’t understand what he was trying to say before he made his getaway.
“Sure I’d love to Harry.” She said.
“NOW he gets it!” she thought happily.
He sat there stunned, unsure whether he heard her correctly.
“Huh?” Ginny laughed
“He’s so cute when he’s clueless!”
“I said ‘Sure I’d love to.’” She repeated, loving the surprised look on his face.
“Uh…Ok. When do you want to go out?” His voice was high pitched and squeaky.
“How ‘bout next week?”
“Uh…OK that’s fine. In fact that’d be great!” said Harry his voice slowly going back to normal.
“Alright then, it’s a date!” Ginny replied happily.
