The Only One All our lives, we’ve been waiting For someone to call our leader, All your lies, not believing, Heaven shine a light down on me.~ The Only One, Evanescence Prologue Eleven year old Braith Kingston stared at the tall dirty, grimy, building she was forced to call home. Her very long pitch black hair fluttered in the wind. Though it was quite chilly, she wasn’t cold. Her dark brown almond shaped eyes seemed to see through the ugly building, for Braith knew perfectly well what every single person in the horrid place was doing. Sleeping. She smiled to herself. Sleeping. While they were sleeping they couldn’t catch her, and when they awoke she hoped to be long gone. If they found her, Braith knew how the social workers would react. They’d think she was in denial about her parents brutal murder or something. But that was not so. Braith didn’t really care about her parents death. They’d never really cared about her and she’d never really cared about them. Lydia and Frederick Kingston had neither looked nor acted like their precocious child. Frederick was a tall uptight man, who was very rich and ill-tempered, and often blew up when he didn’t get his way. His brownish blonde hair was graying and his tooth pick moustache was always perfect. Lydia was frail and petite, much like a China doll, and had light blonde hair and the bluest eyes you’d ever seen. She had always been nervous and slightly aloof and a bit too agreeable. Every single one of Braith’s teachers had been surprised when she had introduced them to her parents, and even more surprised that Braith’s whole family was blonde and Braith wasn’t adopted. Braith had everything she could ever want, yet she thought she had nothing. And why? Her parents outright refused to get close to her. Fast forward. Braith gazed at the orphanage for what seemed like forever, before finally smiling. Freedom... and with that she turned and started running. A/N: That wasn’t as long as I was hoping it would be. Oh, well, it’s only a prologue and I can always add on to it.
